Vaccinations

How many times have you heard somebody say, “I’m not getting the flu shot because the last time I did I got the worse case of flu I ever had,” Truth is, I remember using that same excuse myself many years ago.

Since then, I have done quite a bit of research and here is what I found out. There is absolutely nothing in the flu shot that can make you sick. According to live science the flu shots take two weeks to take effect and if you come in contact with the flu during that time you may get the flu. Some people have even equated the common cold with the shot. If you get your shot every year you will be protected during that time. If you are an older person and get the flu it can be deadly as your body has a harder time fighting off the virus. I have even heard people say that they weren’t going to get the shot this year because the CDC said that it didn’t cover a certain strain of flu. Trust me, it will still cover other strains of flu and the one it doesn’t cover may not even materialize. My question is, “why would you not want to provide as much protection for your body as possible?”

An anti-vaxxer asked me once, “How could it be a danger to other kids if I don’t vaccinate my child since most children are vaccinated?”

According to the  CDC :  “People at high risk for contracting disease such as infants, who are too young to be fully vaccinated and people with weaker immune systems, such as some people with cancer and transplant recipients” are all at risk.

There are some diseases thought to be eradicated by vaccine that are now making a comeback (mic.) Measles, mumps and whooping cough have all reemerged, and there are others. If somebody gets sick because a child is not vaccinated, the parents of that child should be held responsible. If a child dies because his/her parents refused to vaccinate that child, that is child abuse at its worst.
